Bloodied But Unbowed

Hughes Ningbo staff fight the toughest odds ever to bring our clients orders through.

Typhoon Fitow created a maelstrom of misery and mayhem when it hit Zeijhang province last week causing the worst flood disaster in the history of the People’s Republic of China.

Flooded homes from the air

Many factories were hit by the storm and the difficulty levels for our Ningbo staff in all areas of their duty spiralled quickly to almost unimaginable levels.
Some with their own family homes flooded, Hughes staff made herculean efforts to find their way through roads that were impassable by others, simply to find our factories deluged and our products underwater.  Immediately finding solutions to 100% QA products (there were around 300,000 in total) and organise reworks in unaffected factories where necessary, they then faced the inordinate challenge of moving ready goods to port simply to find that the rain had outsmarted them again to create extensive delays at Ningbo port.

Undaunted, our heroic staff negotiated night and day with officials to keep things moving. Yes some shipments to clients have been delayed but everything is manageable and we are blessed with clients who show the same bulldog determination as do we, to laugh in the face of adversity and work together to solve problems, keep things moving and get the job done.

Into every life a little rain must fall... Hughes would like to say a thankyou to those clients affected for their understanding - we are proud to work on your behalf - and well done to all our colleagues and staff in China who have made the recovery possible.
