More power to your elbow

The new range of DC-DC Converters by Hughes

Engineers are finding the massive lead times and very limited offer by manufacturers of DC-DC converters specified by networks increasingly difficult to reconcile with project expectations.

Is your tool letting you down?

Torque tool re-calibration service

We’ve all been there and we all know it, too much torque will deform, shear, or break, your connections, too little and connections end up too loose, allowing them to vibrate, or back off under stress. Both conditions will result in antennae line alarms and remedial call-backs.

Huawei allowed 35% of the 5G network despite US warnings

Britain is a key battleground in the geopolitical tug-of-war over Huawei.

A final decision on how to deploy Huawei equipment in 5G has been made. Amid allegations that the Chinese equipment could expose our crucial national infrastructure to the risk of espionage and US threats to withhold crucial security intelligence, Huawei was classified as a “High-Risk Vendor” subject to an unsurprising 35% cap on access to non-sensitive parts of the network.

5G Rollout behind the curve

Whilst Hughes have successfully been working with operators across the UK to ensure timely delivery of 5G, Three announced this week that they would fail to meet their 5G target this year.

Three cited problems as diverse as mast equipment, backhaul transmission and landlords permission. Three’s initial statement also suggests that their plans to move all clients to the cloud is more complex than originally planned.

Powering 5G

5G is eagerly anticipated by all, the promise of high speed, low latency and the ability to shift large volumes of data, helping fulfil the early promise of wireless internet.

Prototype trials abound and whilst there’s still quite a long way to go one thing has become very clear, a whole lot more power is going to be needed to power the network.
