Resupply material for splicing or terminating fiber optics.

Contact - Referred to the conductive element in a connector that facilitates the transferring of the electrical energy form one side to the other.  A pin is usually the contact.

Contact Size - This usually relates to the maximum size of the wire that the contact can nominally accommodate. It is based on that AWG size

An uninterrupted pathway for electrical or optical signals.

A cable termination point in a below-ground vault whose humidity and temperature are controlled.

A version of FDDI that uses copper wire media instead of fiber-optic cable and operates at 100Mbps. See also twisted-pair physical media dependent (TP-PMD).

Fiber-optic cable designed for use as a patch cord or jumper. Cordage may be either single-fiber (simplex) or double fiber (duplex).

The central part of a single optical fiber in which the light signal is transmitted. Common core sizes are 8.3 microns, 50 microns, and 62.5 microns. The core is surrounded by a cladding that has a higher refractive index that keeps the light inside the core. The core is typically made of glass or plastic.

A measurement that indicates how far off the center of the core of an optical fiber is from the center of that fiber

An arrangement whereby two signal paths, one in each direction, exist in a ring topology.

With respect to optical fiber, a passive, multiport device that connects three or more fiber ends, dividing the input between several outputs or combining several inputs into one output.

The transfer of energy between two or more cables or components of a circuit. See also crosstalk.

How effective a coupling method is at delivering the required signal without loss.

The amount of signal loss that occurs at a connection because of the connection
